It finally got here - I was beginning to wonder!
And here’s the pattern. I’m October 5th :)
And that’s my hand too!
I’ve heard grumblings about this calendar but I don’t think it’s bad at all. Certainly it does have a few patterns for things I’m not likely to make - but isn’t any collection of patterns like that? And, in addition to the scrunchies and the various paper-product covers, the calendar also has some beautiful afghan squares, mittens, gloves, shawls, ponchos and socks. Not bad at all :)
And, of course, it’s got me all hot to crochet something - just to get a hook in my hand again for something besides picking up a dropped stitch! I need to dig out the Kimono jacket and get that finished. I’ve only got the sleeves and trim to do.
But I want another project too and maybe crochet is the ticket. I love knitting, don’t get me wrong, but crochet was the first thing I tried to do with my hands that didn’t make me feel completely inept and clumsy. And you always go back to your first love :)
This morning, for the first time, I caught both dark gerbils out together.

Excellent calendar…I saw it in a bookstore the other day and couldn’t remember its significance. Maybe someday I’ll do something remarkable as that!

Kim - I had had that exact thought because I could only ever get a picture of two at a time. But I kind of like the idea of there being an imaginary one. So maybe there are four gerbils? Three substantial and one not so…
Abi, Coleen, Bliss and Nat - Yes, it’s kinda cool but the first thing I thought when I looked at the picture last night was “Gosh, my hands look old!
Bron - I remember that you were disappointed in the calendar but since sweaters seem to be your thing (with the occasional shawl now and then) and since the calendar suffers from a dearth of sweaters, I can certainly understand that. As expert a crocheter as you are and as beautiful work as you produce (in an incredibly brief period of time!), you’re not missing a thing :)
Barb - Model? LOL! My hands and feet didn’t seem to get…erm…fluffy when the rest of me did but model? A tent, maybe… And what do you think for the littles…red vests and caps?
Wow Congratulations, what an accomplishment! Personally, I love those one-a-day patterns, when I’m all out of ideas I just thumb through it and always find something interesting.

Maureen and Aarlene - Thanks a bunch. It is a lot of fun - except when my father asks “How much did you get paid?” Partly he’s just trying to get my goat - but part of him truly believes that what you don’t get paid for isn’t worth doing.
