Good news, good news - at least I hope it is :) Knitting Chatters will be able to go on as usual while I’m off on my trip. Regular chatter Aarlene is going to man the helm so that Chatters can take place as it normally would. Many thanks to Aarlene! Don’t give her too hard a time, guys :)
While I should be packing, I have been working on baby blankets :) I’m such a stranger in babyland that I hardly know what kind of pattern to use or even what colors! I must admit that I’m not terribly fond of the traditional pastels for babies so, scrounging through the stash (and the web) I have come up with a couple of things.
This is the Climbing Shells Baby Afghan and I crocheted it with Simply Soft Brites in Rubine Red. Bright, isn’t it? Heheh… Machine washable and dryable.
This is my own perverse idea, but I couldn’t see any real problem with it - as regards a baby’s comfort and safety. I had a lot of novelty yarn in the stash that I wanted to use so I am combining Bernat Boa and Lionbrand Fun Fur in alternate bands with more Simply Soft in a dark country blue. It’s just 70 stitches cast on to a size 11 circular needle and worked in garter stitch. Call it the Muppet Pelt Baby Blanket There may be more colors than just the blues too - it depends on how far the novelty yarns go :) Also gently machine washable though it should be laid flat to dry.
Donna - are these okay?
Finally, we always save cardboard food boxes to give the gerbils to chew up. They are inveterate chewers and need to keep their teeth worn down as their teeth never stop growing. Last night, we had Pad Thai (of a sort) for dinner.
So did Crackle and Pop :)
No trackbacks yet.
Bon Voyage!
Happy Sails to you until we meet again.
Happy Sails to you… LOL
er, no other comments?
Gee, I sure hope folks come to the chat on Thursday!
Have a wonderful Trip….Great news about the chat. Hope to make it Thursday night.
Looks good to me! I’m not too fond of those insipid pastels myself, so it’s nice to see the more interesting colors in a baby blanket!
